STONEWALLED: BRUTALITY IN BLUE
DC Event to focus on the issue police abuse and misconduct against the LGBT community in the USA
The DC OUTfront Action Team announced it will hold a community forum on police abuse and misconduct. The event, STONEWALLED: Brutality in Blue, will focus on some of the issues addressed in the new report released by AI on September 22, 2005, Stonewalled: Police abuse and misconduct against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the US.
STONEWALLED: Brutality in Blue will be held Thursday, February 23, 2006 at the Equality Center in the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) building at 1640 Rhode Island Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036. A reception will be held at 7:00 pm, with the program beginning at 7:30 pm and ending shortly before 9:00 pm. Speakers will include Councilman David Catania of the DC City Council, Sgt. Brett Parson of the Washington DC Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit (GLLU), and GiGi Thomas of Helping Individual Prostitutes Survive (HIPS). This event is free of charge.
Take Action to End Homophobic Violence in Mexico
On 21 June Health worker Octavio Acuna was found bleeding to death from multiple stab wounds in the condom shop (condoneria) he ran in Queretaro. Nothing was reportedly stolen from the shop, indicating that the motive was not robbery.
Demonstration at the Jamaican Embassy

On April 14th, the DC OUTfront Action Team and others demonstrated at the Jamaican Embassy and in Dupont Circle, asking Jamaica to condemn homophobic violence and repeal sodomy laws. Hundreds of Action Cards were distributed and over 100 signatures were collected for our petition.

Youth Pride / Black Pride / Capital Pride
The DC OUTfront Action Team is committed to supporting the LGBT community, the whole LGBT community. DC OUTfront operated tables at all 3 major DC Prides including Youth Pride, Black Pride and Capital Pride this year. We collected hundreds of signatures for our Jamaican and Colombian Camapaigns and talked with thousands of people from the DC Metropolitan Area about Human Rights Violations against the LGBTQ Community world-wide.
